Position Overview:
Staffers is seeking a dedicated and experienced full-time Paralegal to support our client’s team of attorneys in insurance defense litigation and workers’ compensation matters. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in litigation, possess excellent organizational skills, and demonstrate a high level of professionalism. This position offers the opportunity to work in a dynamic legal environment, contributing to complex legal cases while supporting a team of accomplished attorneys.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist attorneys in all stages of insurance defense and workers' compensation litigation, including discovery, case preparation, and trial support.
- Draft and proofread legal documents such as pleadings, motions, discovery requests, and correspondence.
- Manage case files, ensuring all documents are properly organized, filed, and up to date.
- Conduct legal research and summarize case law, statutes, and other legal documents.
- Assist in fact-finding and investigation for cases, including reviewing medical records, reports, and other relevant documents.
- Coordinate with clients, witnesses, experts, and opposing counsel to facilitate case progress.
- Prepare exhibits and assist in trial preparation, including organizing materials, depositions, and witness testimony.
- Track important deadlines, maintain attorney calendars, and schedule appointments, hearings, and meetings.
- Provide general administrative support to the legal team as needed.
Qualifications:
- Minimum of 5 years of experience as a paralegal, preferably with a focus on insurance defense litigation and/or workers’ compensation.
- Strong understanding of litigation procedures and familiarity with the Mississippi court system.
- Proficiency in legal research and drafting of legal documents.
- Excellent organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team, maintaining a proactive approach in a fast-paced environment.
- Proficiency with legal software, document management systems, and Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).
Additional Information:
Candidates will be eligible for consideration for one remote workday per week after successfully completing a 90-day trial period.
